Round-up Week 3
- INSPIRATION/MOTIVATION…#inspiration #motivation
Mika Brzezinski „Knowing Your Value” – in my opinion a MUST READ for professional women, especially for every woman who starts her professional career. I started reading it and I couldn’t stop. There were moments of laughter and tears, as many similar past situations crossed my mind. I wish I had such a book 20 years ago! It would be so much easier…at work.
It’s no secret that women have long been overlooked and under-compensated, and while great strides have made in recent decades, the value placed on women versus their male counterparts is still consistently unbalanced. In “Knowing Your Value,” bestselling author Mika Brzezinski takes an in-depth look at how women today achieve their deserved recognition and financial worth. Prompted by her own experience as co-host of Morning Joe, Mika interviews a number of prominent women across a wide range of industries on their experience moving up in their fields. Mika reveals how these women, including such impresarios as White House star Valerie Jarrett, comedian Susie Essman, writer and director Nora Ephron, Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg, and broadcaster Joy Behar, navigated the inevitable roadblocks that are unique to women. Mika also uncovers what men think about the approach women take in the workplace, getting honest answers from Donnie Deutsch, Jack Welch, Donald Trump, and others about why women are paid less, and what pitfalls women face–and play into–as they try to get their worth at work. “Knowing Your Value” blends these personal stories and opinions with the latest research and polling on issues such as equal pay, women in the boardroom, and access to start-up capital. Written in Mika’s brutally honest, funny, and self-deprecating style, Knowing Your Value is a vital book for professional women of all ages. (source of book description and photo: bokmaster.com.pl)
2. This week was GOOD because…#smallpleasures #joyoflife
On Tuesday January 19th, I had the pleasure to attend an event called “Colleagues from Wilanow”, which was organized by 4 women, all of who live in Wilanow. This event took place in the Wilanow Cultural Center and its goal is to integrate women who live in our district. It was a great meeting, very inspiring and full of energy. The theme of the meeting was a lecture conducted by a psychologist, Sylwia Stankiewicz, on New Year’s resolutions and self-development.
A few interesting questions were asked that I will leave to you as food for thought:
- Do I like the life I am living?
- Do I want to change anything? What?
- What bothers me the most?
- What am I aiming for?
- How do I see myself in my leisure time?
- What does my home and my environment look like?
- How are my relations with relatives and close ones?
Consecutive meeting are being planned. For more details, please check the FB fanpage.
TV shows I love
During weekends, I usually catch up with my favorite TV shows that recorded earlier. Very relaxing shows which I recommend you to watch:
- “Homes by Novogratz” – how to set up fabulously colorful homes in an inexpensive way. Imagination and creativity is enough!
- “Homes by the Sea” a well-known British architect (Australian roots) Charlie Luxton presents beautiful houses by the sea located all over the United Kingdom. Bonus: damn, Charlie is very handsome! 😉
I started another sweater. I told you last Friday, I am becoming a Knitting Monster 😉
WHY was this week GOOD FOR YOU?
