BOOKS
„Ćwiartka Raz” (A Quarter Once) Karolina Korwin Piotrowska
Just a short summary for my English readers as this book is available in Polish only. It’s a book describing the past 25 years of the transformation of Polish popculture, consciousness and tastes from the author’s subjective point of view. It starts in 1989 after communism has fallen, when I passed my final exams in high school, entered university and voted for the first time in a free election. What a year! In my opinion, this book is excellent because it took me down memory lane, which was very sentimental and made me cry a few times. It’s the same feeling like when you hear a song or melody and immediately some memories come back, I can quote “Funny how a melody sounds like a memory”. The author has achieved her goal, she wanted this book to be like a rollercoaster of memories. And it was, at least for me.

EVENTS
On Thursday March 10, I had the pleasure to take part in an event „Stylish Evening” organized by multibrand LIYA boutique (MODO Mall at 22 Lopuszanska Street).
First, I would like to say a few words about the owner of this boutique.
Liliana Kostka-Majewska – an amazing woman who manages an IT company and has an artistic soul. She graduated with a degree in economics, and after years of a successful career, decided to make her childhood dream come true. Whilst working, she studied and graduated with a design major, and last year opened a multibrand boutique with interesting clothes like the Dutch YaYa brand which I did not know. I hope that Liliana will also design her own collection – I am keeping my fingers crossed!
I am very happy that I met Liliana last year at a workshop. We talked a few times, we liked one another and in the meantime I became a fan of the Liya boutique.
Liya motto is “Liya. Dress your personality”.
Monika Gąsiorek-Mosiołek & Liliana Kostka-Majewska
The event was conducted by a stylist, journalist and “Lounge” magazine deputy chief editor Monika Gasiorek-Mosiolek. Guests had a chance to hear what the trends for the upcoming spring/summer are, and to see the new collection of the Liya boutique. The collection is in line with Scandinavian minimalism. Look at the beautiful, basic colors. Everything matches and also can be used as a good basis for other clothes.
This season pastels are a must.
Monika also talked about different types of cleavages, and how to choose an appropriate one for ones bust type. You probably already know, that if you have a big bust you should choose a V-neck.
It is not visible in the picture, but the mannequin was wearing a bra J. Monika reminded us, that the biggest mistake is to put on a white bra under a white shirt. Remember to wear a beige/nude colored bra under a white shirt only! Speaking of bras, there is the Change Lingerie boutique (a Danish brand) vis a vis Liya that also belongs to Liliana. I wrote about this lingerie here.
There were many questions asked regarding the appropriate selection of trousers that suits your figure. I was very surprised when the stylist said that a boyfriend type jeans is good for every figure. I have some doubts about that, and I think I will have to have a coffee with Monika – perhaps she will convince me to wear boyfriend jeans. I bought them about 3 years ago, and from time to time I put them on and after 5 minutes I take them off because I don’t think I look good in them.
We should be careful with choosing skinny jeans, as Monika said “especially Poles who tend to have pear shaped lower body”.
Agnieszka Wrzesień – chief editor of KREATYWNE magazine
And here I am all in the Liya autumn collection.
The partner of this event was FUERZA jewelry created by Magdalena Bialas. Fuerza can also be bought at Liya.
The shoes and bags visible in the pictures are from the Monnari shop.
WHY was this week GOOD FOR YOU?
