The Pencil Skirt
I forgot that I actually love pencil skirts! It’s because for the last few years I wore mostly dresses. It’s so easy with dresses – you just open your closet, take a dress out and you don’t have to think what to pair it with. Do you know what I mean?
I fell in love with this yellow pencil skirt when I visited the Lunia Bonder Showroom just before Easter. Lately I wrote a post on dressing a big bust, where amongst other tips, I wrote the “Clever use of colour can help balance a top heavy figure. If you have a smaller bottom half, try wearing a bright colour there with a darker colour on top”. And this yellow skirt is a perfect example of such a usage.
It’s spring time so I decided to break out the brights! I paired it with a fuchsia top and a beautiful spring white coat. When styling such a statement piece, you want to keep the rest of your outfit simple – I decided to have simple cuts or forms of other pieces, a bold combination of colors and no jewelry. Such a look will work perfectly both as a 9 to 5 outfit or for a special occasion, depending how you will accessorize. It can be also paired with a nice, simple white shirt, cardigan or jacket. Such a look is even more appropriate for the office.
