What are your strengths
Do you know your strengths? Haven’t you heard since your childhood that you should work on your shortcomings? Parents often pay for tutoring so their kids may improve the knowledge on the subjects where they get poor grades, instead of focusing on developing their strengths. The problem is that very often we don’t know our strengths.
Truly speaking, life is about doing what we like, and what we are good at. I believe that only then, one can be fully satisfied with their job. The problem though, is that we often do not know what our strengths are. Or we do something naturally with ease, and we don’t even realize that this is a talent. Because a talent is not only drawing, singing or dancing.
I have a good news for you. Each of us has 5 talents! Do you want to know your strengths?
If so, then I recommend the book „Strengths Finder 2.0” by Tom Rath.
“DO YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO WHAT YOU DO BEST EVERY DAY? Chances are, you don’t. From the cradle to the cubicle, we devote more time fixing our shortcomings than developing our strengths.
To help people uncover their talents, Gallup introduced StrengthsFinder in the 2001 management book “Now, Discover Your Strengths.” The book ignited a global conversation, while StrengthsFinder helped millions discover their top five talents.
In “StrengthsFinder 2.0,” Gallup unveils the new and improved version of its popular online assessment. With hundreds of strategies for applying your strengths, “StrengthsFinder 2.0” will change the way you look at yourself – and the world – forever.
AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY IN “STRENGTHSFINDER 2.0” (using the access code included with each book): The StrengthsFinder 2.0 assessment, fine-tuned to be faster and more accurate. A “Strengths Discovery and Action-Planning Guide” featuring: a customized version of your top five theme report; 50 Ideas for Action for building on your top five themes; and a strengths-based action plan for setting goals And much more on the StrengthsFinder 2.0 website: A strengths community area; resources, activities, and discussion guides; a strengths screensaver; and a program for creating display cards of your top five themes.” – source of description: empik.com
I have to admit that this book is a discovery for me. I was waiting with a heartbeat for the online assessment results. I knew about 3 of my strengths, but 2 were completely new to me. I just never thought they were my talents. I looked at myself from a different angle, and now I know that I am on the right path, and I finally am doing what I like. Better later than never 😉
I am not going to tell you my 5 talents, but I strongly recommend that you do the test. If you feel you are at a crossroad, and you are thinking about changing your job or your profession, it’s a must! It would be a pity to waste time and go in the wrong direction.
